NVIDIA 260.19.xx Driver for Linux is Released| Installation instructions and PPA included
NVIDIA 260.19.26 Driver for Linux is Released, the new NVIDIA 260.19.29 driver adds support for new NVIDIA GPUs,
fixes a bug that causes some OpenGL applications to become unresponsive, adds support for NVIDIA 3D Vision Pro, and adds a new 3D Vision Pro configuration file option to the xorg.conf.
What`s new?
- Added support for the following GPUs:
- GeForce GTX 460 SE
- GeForce GTX 570
- Quadro 5000M
- NVS 300
- Fixed a bug that caused some OpenGL applications to become unresponsive for up to a minute on some GPUs when changing the resolution or refresh rate.
- Added support for NVIDIA 3D Vision Pro.
See the “Stereo” X configuration documentation in the README for further details. - Added a new X configuration option “3DVisionProConfigFile” to allow user provide a filename which NVIDIA X driver uses to store 3D Vision Pro configuration settings. See “Appendix B. X Config Options” in the README for more information.

I Installation in Ubuntu via PPA
- Open terminal and copy the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current nvidia-current-modaliases nvidia-settings
- Now go to Menu System–>Administration–>Additional Drivers and activate the current Nvidia driver.
- Reboot your computer.
II Manual Installation :
- First Download the driver from the download links bellow (32bit or 64bit),
- cd the directory where you downloaded the file, in my case :
cd /home/zinovsky/Downloads
- Now open terminal and run the following command:
sudo sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.29.run
Then follow the installation instructions.
- Activate the new driver and Reboot.

I tried it and it works with a regular zip file, but if you password-protect the .zip file it does NOT work.

After install as above, run shell script /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica.sh manually and note lib errors still occur. I had the x64 motif loaded but had to manually install the x86 too. Got that from http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libXm.so.4 Even after that, I still had to do a “yum install alsa-lib.i686 alsa-lib.x86_64″ to resolve any additional libasound.so.2 errors. Once those two lib issues were resolved, Citix Web Interface launched apps fine by telling browser to open launch.ica using /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica.sh. Good luck Ernesto!
