Perhaps will be a good idea to have a mail client in you AA1, Thunderbird will be a good choice

First download Thunderbird from an official mirror. All available languages can be inthis link :

http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/all.html#languages

Step 1 : download Thunderbird :

wget "http://download.mozilla.org/?product=thunderbird-2.0.0.17&os=linux〈=en-US"

Step 2 : Extracting the files

sudo tar -zvxf thunderbird-2.0.0.17.tar.gz --directory /opt
sudo chown user -R /opt/thunderbird
sudo ln -fs /opt/thunderbird/thunderbird /usr/bin/tb2

Step 3 : Now we put an icon on the desktop

sudo cp /usr/share/applications/AME.desktop /usr/share/applications/tb.desktop
sudo sed -e'/Exec/cExec=tb2' -e'/Icon/cIcon=tb2' -i /usr/share/applications/tb.desktop
dca add 10 "file='/usr/share/applications/tb.desktop'"

Now we will Replace the default icon with a high resolution version.

wget http://www.mozilla-europe.org/img/image-library/thunderbird-logo.png
sudo convert -crop 152x152+20+20 thunderbird-logo.png /usr/share/pixmaps/tb2.png

Perhaps a reboot will be needed for some changes to take effect.

    Hi,
I am completely new to Linux and I
    have Acer Aspire One-Linpus Linux.
    I am
trying to install a Comic book viewer-Cbrpager which is a tar.gz file. I have
extracted it to my Downloads folder, but I can’t seem to install it! I would be
very grateful if you could give me step by step instructions on how to do it!

    Thanks
    Roy

    I changed
sudo tar -zvxf thunderbird-2.0.0.17.tar.gz –directory /opt

    to
sudo tar -zvxf thunderbird-2.0.0.21.tar.gz –directory /opt

    to get the latest version.

The link no longer exists: where to download the logo with the correct size?
    Thanks.
    Dario.

I tried it and it works with a regular zip file, but if you password-protect the .zip file it does NOT work.
