Unity is the default UI for Ubuntu Netbook Edition in 10.10. It’s a step forward in the Netbook Edition, making it easy and well-fitted for those screen sizes for your a desktop environment.

To install unity in Lucid :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:canonical-dx-team/une
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-netbook-unity-default-settings

If you are using Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick you can install then from repository using the command:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-netbook

    Yes you can just open "Synaptic" and sear for "unity" then select it and press install. After installeation logout and login back. Youre done !
