GCstar- An open source application for managing your collections

GCstar is a free open source application for managing your collections. Detailed information on each item can be automatically retrieved from the internet and you can store additional data, such as the location or who you’ve lent it to. You may also search and filter your collection by many criteria.

The latest version is GCstar 1.6.0  manages these collections:

  • Movies
  • Video games
  • Books
  • Music
  • Numismatic
  • Wines
  • Board games
  • Comic books
  • TV shows episodes
  • Stamps
  • Periodicals
  • Mini vehicles
  • Smart cards
  • User defined collections

Install GCstar

  • In Ubuntu :

open terminal and type this command :

sudo apt-get install gcstar

or Install it from Ubuntu software center. (The latest version in ubuntu is 1.5.0)

  • For other Linux distribution:

Download the latest version GCstar 1.6.0 

Then extract the file :

tar zxf gcstar-1.6.0.tar.gz

Now cd the extracted directory, and type this command to install GCstar:

    well..i’ve installed it in my ubuntu 10.04 ..when i tried to get info from the internet it gave me errors..
    i think it’s my connnection problem bcoz im using my school’s proxy but when i tried griffith (also a collection manager..mainly for movies)..
    there’s nothing wrong with the connection
