If you diden`t hear about Google voice and video chat before, it is a service that allows users to initiate a video chat with high-quality audio directly from within Gmail, iGoogle and the company’s Orkut social networking site – one of the most visited sites from Brazil and India.

According to a post on the Official Gmail Blog by Google Software Engineer Tristan Schmelcher, support for Linux was the developers “top video chat request”. Voice and video chat for Linux currently supports Ubuntu and other Debian-based distributions. Reportedly, RPM support is coming soon.
