Installing GnuCash 2.6.7 on ubuntu Linux

According to the official documentation of GNUCash, it is recommended to use the version of this app that comes bundled with your operating system repository, although its bit old but its stable and should satisfy the needs of most of users.

Run following command to install GNUCash old stable version on ubuntu.

sudo apt-get install gnucash

But if you are looking to try latest 2.6.7 on Ubuntu, here are the steps.

First of all download its source file From here.

As soon as the download process is complete, launch your terminal and extract the downloaded file as.

tar xvf gnucash-2.6.7.tar.gz

Once the  process is complete, go into the extracted directory.

cd gnucash-2.6.7

Now run following command to start the installation process.

./configure

Once configure is complete without any errors, run following:

make

That’s all, we are on the last step, complete the installation by running:

make install

Congratulation, latest GNU cash has been installed on your ubuntu system now. Launch it from Applications >> Gnu cash option.
