Ghnomix is a nice icon theme for Linux, it is compatible with all Desktop Manager.
For Ubuntu and LinuxMint, you can use the following PPA to install Ghnomix icon theme:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/themes sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install ghnomix
