VirtualBox 4.0.8 is released!

Oracle released VirtualBox 4.0.8, a maintenance release of VirtualBox 4.0. It improves stability and fixes regressions. Important bugs were fixed in this release, for 3D support: fixed GNOME 3virtualbox rendering under Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 15, Mac OS X hosts: fixed incompatibility with recent Mac OS X versions in 64-bit mode, for more information check the changelog.



For Ubuntu and LinuxMint, open terminal and enter the following commands

sudo -v
echo "deb $(lsb_release -sc) contrib" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list

wget -q -O- | sudo apt-key add -

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install virtualbox-4.0

    I get this message when I try the above. When I use the instructions from the virtualbox website it is quite similar. Regardless, I have it installed and running.

    W: Failed to fetch 404 Not found

    E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

    I’m having the same problem as KingDan. And, unfortunately, you can’t get automatic updates if you download and install the deb. On Mint 11 I’ve tried tried with the Natty and Maverick packages and neither work.
