Word is Cinnamon 2.0.6 can still break Unity, i’d advise against it.

    To fix it back:

    sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
    sudo apt-get purge –auto-remove cinnamon
    sudo apt-get autoremove
    sudo apt-get update -f
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

    Thanks JahFou.

Where are the release announcements for Cinnamon? I get updates via the PPA but can’t find a url to read the explanation. Yet sites like this obviously are getting the into.

After upgrading to the latest Cinnamon 2.0.12 (different pieces have different version numbers and I don’t know which piece caused the Unity issue), Unity is now working again on my system (13.10). It had broken when I first installed Cinnamon 2.
