No need for webdownload as it’s available in the software centre if you’ve enebled the partner repository.

    • John Coleman

I’ve enabled everything in the Software Center and there is no Skype!

      • Asd

        Open terminal, sudo apt-get update
Should now be in software center

Still have the video problem (running amd64), anyone know how to fix it, the usual with
    v4l1compat.so doesn’t seem to work.

  • Christian

Agree with Ecc. But in terminal it works. Just activate Partner-Rep and install via “sudo apt-get install skype”

      How to activate partner-rep?

      • bol

Open “Software update” from top/right wheel icon, and click button “Parameters”, tabs “other software” and checked “Canonical partners”, Button close, will refresh the list. After you could execute the command line.

Now, i have the visual applet.

I like your watch from desktop….how to install on my pc?

  • Jacoblorensen

Easy to install, difficult to make it work properly. Try this:
    1) Start skype from the left-side menu
    2) Log in
    3) Close the skype window

Woups, skype window and “tray” icon is gone. DId skype close?

    4) try and restart skype

The skype log in dialog appear. Oh. So skype did not close?

    5) log in to skype

Woups, error message: “Another skype instance may exist”

So – now we’re in trouble. Skype thinks skype is running, but unity thinks otherwise. Better start up your xterm, “killall skype”, and restart it. Remember not to close the skype window any more as we used to, leaving it in the “system tray”.

This is cool, however I have a dual monitor and it shows up in my 2nd monitor. Any way I can move it to my primary monitor?

  • Pimmelbums

Installing it from the deb file produces a faulty skype install, making skype not showing its icon in the upper panel. Had to install it via terminal and now it works. I hope you will update your instructions. Because they led me to that faulty skype install.

it can be used to talk or chat through the internet,

it is using strong encryption.

but for example TOR is using some obfuscation because some countrys try to block all outgoing connections which can not be scanned with DPI

And the TOR Project is facing an arms race in obfuscation and encryption detection.

You can friend someone if you give him your public Certificate.

both peers must friend each other.

i suggest to not enter a valid e-mail address. it is not necessary, but pgp needs a mail addy. something@something.so fits perfectly… :)

http://redd.it/18vsq5 <– faq, featurelist, todo, howto, useful links to manual wiki etc, …

you can connect to chatservers, which will give you access to chatlobby, where always some people are lurking.

and in this rooms, you can find other people to talk and friend.

please have a look at this link. it is a FAQ, QuickTip, HowTo, etc etc etc …

If you want to make friends, please use the Chatservers.
#1 https://www.f2f-fr.net/w2c/en/
#2 http://retrosharechatserver.no-ip.org/w2c/en/

if you enter your certificate, the chatserver adds you as his friend and shows his certificate too add him to your friends.

After the connection to the chatservers is established, you can join a few chatrooms where the chatserver is lurking.

in this rooms are other people too help you and make first friends and get into the network.

add friends only with wisdom. if you friend some policeman, it will be problematic like in real life.

best is to add only people you trust in real life or trust from other communitys too. and not to add random unkown strangers.

If you have questions, ask them in the chatlobbys, there is always someone to answer them.

please read http://redd.it/18vsq5

or question me here :)
