Yum centos behind a proxy | Tip

Question: How  to  use  yum behind  proxy on  centos 5.5 ?

open  terminal  and  under  root  run the  following export  commands:

export  http_proxy=http://user:pass@host:port/

export  ftp_proxy=http://user:pass@host:port/

Now   run  the  yum install or update  again

is done.

  • noname

vim /etc/yum.conf and add proxy=http://foo.bar:8080 or something like that there.
Not all applications need to know about proxy.

You coul’d put this in your .bashrc or .profile so it will be exported every time you boot the system. Or even in the rc.local
