Shutter 0.86.3 is released ! Now adds support for Ubuntu one

Announced today the release of Shutter 0.86.3, this new version adds support for Ubuntu One, comes with new humanity icons (ubuntu-mono-dark andlogo_shutter ubuntu-mono-light) and fixed many bugs.

“Shutter is a feature-rich screenshot program. You can take a screenshot of a specific area, window, tooltip, menu, your whole screen, or even of a website – apply different effects to it, draw on it to highlight points, and then upload to an image hosting site, all within one window.”

This new feature It only works with Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) or later. You need the package libnet-dbus-glib-perl to use it. If you have already added Shutter  PPA, you can install the package via terminal:

sudo apt-get install libnet-dbus-glib-perl

Installation of Shutter in Ubuntu 9.10, 10.04 and 10.10:

  1. first add  PPA to your system  Open a terminal and enter:
  2. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shutter/ppa
  3. Now, as a one-off, you should tell your system to pull down the latest list of software from each archive it knows about, including the PPA you just added:
  4. sudo apt-get update
  5. Install Shutter
  6. sudo apt-get install shutter
