Pidgin 2.7.11 is releaed! | PPA Ubuntu and Linux Mint

Pidgin 2.7.11 has been released, this is a maintenance release that includes a variety of bug fixes and updates. Some of the bugs that has been fixed in this version,we list: MSN: Fix bug that prevented added buddies to your buddy list in certain circumstances, Fix embedding in the system tray on older GTK+ releases (such as on CentOS 5.5 and older Fedora). Fix some instances of file transfers never completing. About_Pidgin_003

Install Pidgin via PPA in Ubuntu and LinuxMint:

Actually the default Pidgin PPA still not updated yet, you can use instead the one bellow.

For installation open terminal and enter the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/pidgin
 sudo apt-get update  
 sudo apt-get install pidgin

- For other Linux distributions follow the links related to your current distro : Fedora, CentOS/RHEL

You can download and install Pidgin from source: source package
