The new Gnome and subsequent GDM has made all of this hard work for naught! See Ubuntu’s Karmic Koala for the latest grumblings. Theming is essentially broken. While the login screen can be tweaked, it is not the same.

Boo on the Gnome Team for regressing and making all of this work by the community useless!

I have ubuntu, but I don’t have any of this.. yes I can go to System, Amin, Login Window, but no tabs exist at all.. Just some useless options like auto login and what session type I want as default [Gnome].

I always log in as Gnome and in fact xubuntu session doesnt even work.. Additionally I tried removing Xubuntu from the Terminal.. The reason why is because when I start up ubuntu, it has been recently giving me the xubuntu splash screen and ugly login wallpaper.. Anyone know what could be going on?

Any way to keep the gnome login display manager on ubuntu 10.04? They’ve taken out the option to do that (not sure why) but it really *****. I have the themes downloaded but I have no idea where to stick them. I’m ready to do it all by terminal if need be. We need an updated guide. please don’t tell me to downgrade to 11x Unity ***** and doing 11x makes some of my key sound programs not work with no apparent fix

Hey Abhishek

Yes there are many open source tools available to meet your requirements. They are easy to manage and has a decent web gui to configure. We will publish all of them one by one shortly. Stay tuned with us.

Hey Mel,

First of all, its good that you have figured a way to block torrents using iptables. I am new to networking and would like to do couple of things.

1) Monitor the network activity in the home network

2) Block all the torrents from downloading.

Is there a tool or a way in linux which could give me some solutions to meet the above mentioned cases. I dont want to use any commercial programs as I am more towards OpenSource. It would be greatful if you could offer me some help.

Thanks,

Abhi
