LMMS – Linux MultiMedia Studio

LMMS is a free cross-platform alternative to commercial programs like FL Studio®, which allow you to produce music with your computer. This includes the creation of melodies and beats, the synthesis and mixing of sounds, and arranging of samples. You can have fun with your MIDI-keyboard and much more; all in a user-friendly and modern interface.

To install LMMS in Fedora :

yum install lmms.i586

In Ubuntu 8.04,8.10 and  9.4 Jaunty Jackalope

sudo apt-get install lmms

To install LMMS in Opensuse:

First add the Packman repository, then under root type :

zypper install lmms 


yast2 -i lmms

For others linux distributions, you can install from the source : download and extract

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/lmms/files/lmms/lmms-0.4.4.tar.bz2

Extract :

tar -xjvf lmms-0.4.4.tar.bz2


cd lmms-0.4.4

check if your missing some needed packages


preparing the install files


install the program

make install

Now start your LMMS
