Written by Mel Kham on . Posted in Linux tutorials

If you want to create a live CD/DVD for your your installed Ubuntu or any other debian based system the easy way, we advice you to use Live Magic, a  tool for end-users to quickly and easily generate their own Debian live systems. It supports selecting:

  • Desktop environment
  • The distribution of Debian to build (stable, testing, etc.)
  • Media type (ISO9660, USB-HDD image, PXE netboot, etc.)
  • Target locale and keyboard layout, defaulting to current build system configuration
  • Debian Installer integration
  • 12 languages

In ubuntu you can install the package from Ubuntu  Software  Center , or using the command :

sudo apt-get install live-magic

For other debian based systems use the command above or download the package from this Link.

When it is downloaded you can start it  from The menu  Applications > Accessoiries

To create a Live CD/DVD follow the steps as described in the screenshots bellow.

For Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx choose the mirror as described in the screenshot bellow ( http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ )

you  are   done.  now  the  ISO  will  be  saved   under     your   destination folder

How long should the process take? The first time I let it run all night without any results.

My question is the same as the poster before me. When I click the apply button. I get nothing.

    Explanation needed.

This and nothing is almost the same, besides the minimal info is 10000000000000000 times in Internet. Who needs 10000000000000001 times?
