it appears that amd64 packages are not available from PPA as when i did apt-get update here is the respond from server:
W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/openoffice-pkgs/ppa/ ubuntu/dists/karmic/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz 404 Not Found
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Looks like it doesn't work. There are no files for Karmic there, only older versions. Any other way to do this via ppa?
