We've made the step from Ghost and Acronis to clonezilla to, and it is a good choice. I have customized the live CD/USB for our enviroment so that all the people can do it easily:

The operation of Clonezilla is cumbersome and it is slower than Acronis.

The Seagate DiscWizard is a free version of the commercial Acronis TrueImage

We have moved from using Ghost 11 with multicast to Clonezilla Server Edition (drbl). I have never achieved speeds this fast before with Ghost! Plus, our scholl no longer has to shell out all that cash for Ghost licenses! I have two words for clonezilla: Simply Amazing!

glad to see how clonezilla is progressing to dominate.

if clonezilla managed to restore to dissimilar hardware then Symantec and Acronis are screwed.

    hope this becomes true.
