Install Xfce4.8 via PPA in Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04

Few days ago xfce4.8 was released, this new release comes with many new features and improvements, Xfce users  are now able to browse remote shares using a variety of protocols (SFTP, SMB, FTP and many more), panel application has been rewrittenthereby improving positioning, transparency, item and launcher management.

If you want to test this new release in Ubuntu 10.10, there is a PPA available , simply open terminal and enter the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:koshi/xfce-4.8
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

Actually, what I see too much of, and what Microsoft actually (sorta) did with Windows 8 is think forward. And let’s be brutally honest. Windows 8 is actually NOT as bad as people is making it out, they’re just freakishly afraid of change (which Linux users are as well, it seems)
