install firefox from source

How  to install  this  firefox  3.6.2  on fedroa  .

with  yum  methode  there is  no   actual  3.6.2

First  check  if  the  firefox  exist  on  rawhide  develoippment  directory

[root@localhost ~]# yum  –enablerepo=rawhide list firefox

Installed Packages
firefox.i686                                                      3.5.8-1.fc12                                                       @updates
Available Packages
firefox.i686                                                      3.6.1-2.fc14                                                       rawhide

 

 

its doesn’t there yet ,

 

now   remove the  install  firefox with

yum  remove  firefox

 

after  that   download the  laste  mozilla firefox  from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html

move  the  gz  file  to  the op

t[pirat9@localhost Downloads]$ tar  -xjvf   firefox-3.6.2.tar.bz2

 

now  make  a  symbolik  link to  the   firefox  directory

cd  /usr/bin; ln -s  /opt/firefox/firefox

now  the  firefox  is  add to  /usr/bin  directory

you  can start the  fiire  form your  home  directory  with command  firefox

 

if  you  want to  add  firefox  icons  to   your  panel .  do  add  to  panel

 

copy  the  png    icons  to  pixmap  directory

cd  /opt/firefox/icons

[pirat9@localhost icons]$ sudo cp  mozicon128.png  /usr/share/pixmaps/
[pirat9@localhost icons]$ sudo chmod  777   /usr/share/pixmaps/mozicon128.png

I tried it and it works with a regular zip file, but if you password-protect the .zip file it does NOT work.

After install as above, run shell script /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica.sh manually and note lib errors still occur. I had the x64 motif loaded but had to manually install the x86 too. Got that from http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libXm.so.4 Even after that, I still had to do a “yum install alsa-lib.i686 alsa-lib.x86_64″ to resolve any additional libasound.so.2 errors. Once those two lib issues were resolved, Citix Web Interface launched apps fine by telling browser to open launch.ica using /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica.sh. Good luck Ernesto!
