Illegal Access to Adobe Source Code

Adobe Systems, Inc. (/əˈdoʊbiː/ ə-doh-bee), is an American multinational computer software company headquartered in San Jose, California, United States. The company has historically focused upon the creation of multimedia and creativity software products, with a more-recent foray towards rich Internet application software development.

Adobe was founded in December 1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke, who established the company after leaving Xerox PARC in order to develop and sell the PostScript page description language. In 1985, Apple Computer licensed PostScript for use in its LaserWriter printers, which helped spark the desktop publishing revolution. “

Illegal Access to Adobe Source Code

Brad Arkin (Chief Security Officer at Adobe Systems. San Francisco.) has announced some security news on adobe blog. According to this post, Adobe’s security team discovered sophisticated attacks on their network and illegal access for numerous Adobe products.

At the moment I am writing this article Adobe is investigating the illegal access to source code of numerous Adobe products, but there is not yet any detailed information about this cyber security breach.

Brad suggest all Adobe clients and users to run only supported versions of the software, apply all available security updates, and follow the advice in the Acrobat Enterprise Toolkit and the ColdFusion Lockdown Guide. He also mentions that they are not aware of any zero-day exploits targeting any Adobe products, but this does not guarantee us that there will not be in the future.

Adobe deeply regret that this incident ocurred and it taking the following steps:

– Resetting relevant customer passwords to help prevent unauthorized access to Adobe ID accounts.
– Notifying customers whose credit or debit card information we believe to be involved in the incident
– Adobe has notified the banks processing customer payments for Adobe, so that they can work with the payment card companies and card-issuing banks to help protect customers’ accounts.

Does your friend use Adobe products? Does any member of your family use Adobe Acrobat Reader? Then share this post with them and tell to apply security updates.
