How  to  switch  between runlevels  in Fedora 16 ?

Normally  the  inittab is  the file responsible to  switch between the  run-levels  in all old Fedora en Centos releases .

The  new run level  definition  has been  changed in Fedora16 Run Level3

.

.

.

# multi-user.target: analogous to runlevel 3
# graphical.target: analogous to runlevel 5
  • To reboot in   runlevel3  (TEXT MODE)
# rm /etc/systemd/system/default.target
# ln -s /lib/systemd/system/multi-user.target /etc/systemd/system/default.target
#reboot
  • To reboot in   runlevel 5 (Graphical mode)
# rm /etc/systemd/system/default.target
# ln -s /lib/systemd/system/graphical.target  /etc/systemd/system/default.target
#reboot
