Grub Customizer – A graphical grub2 settings manager

Written by Mel Kham on . Posted in Software

Grub Customizer has been updated to version 1.5, this version comes with a live cd setup assistant,  grub install functionality included,  icon added,  close confirmation added.

If you didn`t hear about Grub customizer before, it is a “Graphical interface to configure the grub2/burg settings with focus on the individual list order – without losing the dynamical behavior of grub”.

Since version 1.5 it’s possible to do grub2/burg recovery & configuration using a live cd (and Grub Customizer, which has to be installed as usual at the live system before using it). All the file systems you need will be automatically mounted after choosing the root partition and some sub partitions on the “live cd setup assistant” (a dialog which pops up, when you start Grub Customizer inside a live system).

Installation of Grub Customizer:

In Ubuntu :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install grub-customizer

I tried it and it works with a regular zip file, but if you password-protect the .zip file it does NOT work.
