There are 10 nice themes to be installed by adding a repository and by a simple command :

sudo apt-get install

To add the repositories to Ubuntu Karmic Koala :

As everybody knows for karmic koala you can add the repositories via this command :

  1. Methode I :

Use the command for karmic to add repository :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bisigi

Then update the installation :

sudo apt-get update

To install the complete collection you can just click the image bellow apt:// to install :

2. Classic methode :

First :

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Then add these 2 lines

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bisigi/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bisigi/ppa/ubuntu karmic main

Now add the verification key :

gpg --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:11371 --recv-key 881574DE && gpg -a --export 881574DE | sudo apt-key add -

then update the installation :

sudo apt-get update

To install the complete collection you can just click the image bellow apt:// to install :

If you want to install them one by one please see the link bellow :

wouldn’t add the verification key :(

  • zinovsky

Maybe the server is busy, just keep trying , the key is working and this problem is happening from time to time :)

    • jake

Its working now and the themes are good :D

  • Robin

when I click on the apt url, it says, package zgegblog-themes not working

Guess I need to refresh the package list…
Is there a way to just refresh the packages from the bisigi ppa?

    • Robin

      I meant package zgegblog-themes not found…

  • zinovsky

You have to add first the repositories and the verification key before to click the apt:// install

    • Robin

Thanks! I had added the repositories and the verification key. Needed to refresh the package list… somehow, didn’t get prompted for the option.

Still, I installed the themes and they are great!
Especially the balanzan theme with the Koala wallpaper 8)

Balanzan is one of the nicest themes that I’ve ever seen on any DE or OS. Its polished and complete. Usually a theme is weak in one area or another, but this one’s awesome. The only thing that would improve it, IMO, would be a GDM theme with a face browser (my kids like clicking on their pictures to log in).

  • zinovsky

You can always costumise the GDM themes , the backround image …, i will check for you how to do that :)

I’ve just been too lazy to get around to learning that myself. Most themes don’t include a face browser. Perhaps I should hack this one together. Of course, I’d be obligated to maintain it

Just delete the space after the slash (/) it will work.

I tried it and it works with a regular zip file, but if you password-protect the .zip file it does NOT work.
