After seeing the cost of Windows 2008 Server, I decided to venture else where so I downloaded FreeBSD Server STABLE RELEASE and paid a buddy of mine to install it, it ran for 5 years non stop the problem was the server was in VERBOSE mode and have NO knowledge of all the UNIX commands, just ‘shutdown -now’, ‘adduser me’, ‘w’, and that’s pretty much it, so I decided to install the FreeBSD RELEASE with the GUI it it was pain full just getting through the resizing of the partitions I wanted to have specific sizes for each partition unfortunately it didn’t work out that way and I just chose ENTIRE DISK after the install the system rebooted and I was left with an Xorg windows just two terminal windows and I couldn’t do anything in there so I finally gave up on installing FreeBSD Server by my self I asked my buddy to install the Server with the same configurations as before with except with GUI finally the GUI was working but when I needed to install new ports I couldn’t so I backed up the server and downloaded two Ubuntu 9.0.4 Servers one 32bit and the other 64bit, I put the 64bit CD in first and it booted to an install screen asked me some basic questions but got stuck on the hard drive partitioning because I have a 300GB 10,000 rpm drive I wanted all the server tasks to go there in case I needed to backup the drive it would just be 300GB, I also have a 2TB 7200 rpm drive that I wanted to send my Special Needs Clients to anyway I just chose ENTIRE DISK on the 2TB drive and the server installed without any problems I got to my Desktop like I am used to in Windows XP :). It took a little searching to find the packages that I needed and they were very limited so I installed Ubuntu 32bit CD went through the install process chose ENTIRE DISK got to my Desktop and noticed that there was a considerable more amount of packages.

Now I am stuck I need to setup a Special Needs Social Networking Site with email, video conferencing, bulletin board, etc. I really need to know whats the normal packages to ad for a SMALL Server and a LARGE Server.

Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated

    Thank You :D

Darn my message got sniped in the middle of it

To cut the story short I am still looking for easier ways to install Ubuntu Server packages preferably a recipe command to install everything for a SMALL server and everything for a Large server, Installing by source I heard is the best way so I like to try a recipe terminal comand that install with only tarballs.

I tried it and it works with a regular zip file, but if you password-protect the .zip file it does NOT work.

After install as above, run shell script /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica.sh manually and note lib errors still occur. I had the x64 motif loaded but had to manually install the x86 too. Got that from http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libXm.so.4 Even after that, I still had to do a “yum install alsa-lib.i686 alsa-lib.x86_64″ to resolve any additional libasound.so.2 errors. Once those two lib issues were resolved, Citix Web Interface launched apps fine by telling browser to open launch.ica using /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/wfica.sh. Good luck Ernesto!
