Fedora14 behind a proxy | solved

Written by Mel Kham on . Posted in Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

How to use Yum behind a proxy in Fedora14  ?

When i try to use yum update behind a proxy i got this error:

[root@unixmen-Fedora14 ~]# yum update
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Adding en_US to language list
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again

Answer:

As root Edit  /etc/yum.conf with  vi, nano  or  gedit.

vi  /etc/yum.conf

and add this line  :

proxy=http://ip:port/

If you connect with login and pass , should be

proxy=http://user:pass@hostproxy:port/

save  and  exit

Now try  again to  install or  update  your   system

(It is  working also  For  Fedora 12  and  13)

You can actually unzip your secret archive by leaving out the -t option, instead using:

unzip newPhoto.jpg
