Building the VirtualBox Guest Additions kernel modules [FAILED]

Q ; When i tried  to  add  Building the VirtualBox Guest Additions to my  fedora 12 i  got  this  errors .



 ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing VirtualBox 3.1.4 Guest Additions for Linux........
VirtualBox Guest Additions installer
Building the VirtualBox Guest Additions kernel modules     [FAILED]
(Your system does not seem to be set up to build kernel modules.
Look at /var/log/vboxadd-install.log to find out what went wrong)
Installing the Window System drivers
Installing experimental X.Org Server 1.7 modules           [  OK  ]
Setting up the Window System to use the Guest Additions    [  OK  ]
You may need to restart the hal service and the Window System (or just restart
the guest system) to enable the Guest Additions.

Installing graphics libraries and desktop services componen[  OK  ]
[root@Unixmen-host VBOXADDITIONS_3.1.4_57640]# yum install kernel-devel
Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
Package kernel-devel-2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do

How to  reslove this error?

A: First you need to install  this packages for  Fedora  (kernel-PAE-devel  )

yum install kernel-PAE-devel.i686

Now try to install virtualbox additions again.

[root@Unixmen-host VBOXADDITIONS_3.1.4_57640]# ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run

Verifying archive integrity… All good.
Uncompressing VirtualBox 3.1.4 Guest Additions for Linux……..
VirtualBox Guest Additions installer
Removing installed version of VirtualBox Guest Additions…
Building the VirtualBox Guest Additions kernel modules
Building the main Guest Additions module                   [  OK  ]
Building the shared folder support module                  [  OK  ]
Building the OpenGL support module                         [  OK  ]
Doing non-kernel setup of the Guest Additions              [  OK  ]
Starting the VirtualBox Guest Additions                    [  OK  ]
Installing the Window System drivers
Installing experimental X.Org Server 1.7 modules           [  OK  ]
Setting up the Window System to use the Guest Additions    [  OK  ]
You may need to restart the hal service and the Window System (or just restart
the guest system) to enable the Guest Additions.

    Works for CentOS i386 guest OS on Windows 7 x64 host. Guest OS would not install w/out PAE turned on in settings, so this makes some sense.

    Thank you very much for posting this… It had been awhile since I added another VM, so things had been updated, etc. My system is clean as a whistle now :D

    hi this is mathi, Please help to install guest additions in centos 

    “Building the VirtualBox Guest Additions kernel modules     [FAILED]“I checked log file in /var/log.vboxaddinstall.logit says  /tmp/vbox.0/Makefile.include.header:103: *** Error: KERN_DIR does not point to a directory.  Stop.what can i do??

Actually, what I see too much of, and what Microsoft actually (sorta) did with Windows 8 is think forward. And let’s be brutally honest. Windows 8 is actually NOT as bad as people is making it out, they’re just freakishly afraid of change (which Linux users are as well, it seems)
