Blender 2.57 comes with a new design, Multiple windows support and more

Blender 2.57 is released, this new release comes with a new graphical user interface that includes a new set of icons, a new design, support for addons, and access to brushes, including blendlogoan animation editor nonlinear. The overall design and new GUI controls indicates a lot of improvements in this version. Blender is a very useful tool for graphics designers /game developers.

About Blender :

Blender is a free, open source 3D graphics application that can be used for modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging, water and smoke simulations, skinning, animating, rendering, particle and other simulations, non-linear editing, compositing, and creating interactive 3D applications, including video games, animated film, or visual effects.

Installation of Bleder in Linux

  • For Ubuntu and LinuxMint, you can install Blender via repository by entering the followimg commands in a terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cheleb/blender-svn
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install blender
  • For Fedora
yum Install  blender
  • Mandriva
urpmi blender
  • Opensue
yast2 -i blender

    Why did you include the icon for the proprietary 3D package [url=http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/]Lightwave[/url] in the illustration for this story? I was hoping it was going to be something about Newtek going open source or something.

Just delete the space after the slash (/) it will work.

I tried it and it works with a regular zip file, but if you password-protect the .zip file it does NOT work.
