In its January 2013 Steam software and hardware survey, the gaming leader had some new stats to show in terms of market share the various OS had gained.

Canonical is reviewing Ubuntu’s release cycles for next year. The expectation is to adopt a rolling release for Ubuntu 14.04 onwards. The roadmap is to adopt a Long Term Support version, where updates are released every two years.

The beta release of Half-life1 and Counter Strike 1.6 are now available for Linux, thanks to Valve. An OS X version is also available for those interested.
